Thatta: 10- February 2020: Special Assistant to CM Sindh Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar has said that the government has focused more on the education of special children including the welfare of the children with disabilities. Efforts are being made to ensure that children with disabilities' educated in all special education centers in Sindh is accessed through higher schools and colleges, rather than middle, so that they can stand on their feet and earn a respectable livelihood. He expressed these views while addressing a function to distribute school uniforms among special children at the Government Special Education Center in Makli here today. He said that Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah have great interest and efforts to provide better education to the students with disabilities and up-gradation of these centers. He said that whatever needs have been sent to Chief Minister Sindh regarding the rehabilitation of people with disabilities have been fulfilled in the past and we hope that they will continue to help in the future. He said that in the past the centers of the children with disabilities have been neglected and it is our endeavor to provide all the necessary facilities with good education in all the special education centers of Sindh but due to limited resources there is more effort to be taken to Improve the quality of education on a priority basis and provide the necessary facilities to the schools in which they are performing well. He said that 15 to 18 per cent of the entire country has a population of persons with disabilities. If we have not made any strategy for them and do not count them as an individual in the society, it will be a great loss to our country. He said that the Government Special Education Center is a role model for the education of special children in the whole of Sindh and keeping in view the performance of this school, other special centers of Sindh have better access to such educational standards and environment and will follow the examples set by the said institution. He said that media and other organizations should highlight this institution and its problems so as to raise awareness among the people and give maximum development to the sector. The event was also addressed by Nadeem Ibrahim, Principal of the Special Education and Rehabilitation Center. Additional Deputy Commissioner I Mohammad Arif Kulwar, Deputy Director Social Welfare Khuda Bakhsh Behrani, DSP Juma Khan Phawanar, Center students and their parents were present on the occasion. Earlier students of the center presented a national anthem and other tableaus and Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar celebrated birthday of a child with disability by cutting the cake while the center employee, Imam Ali, presented the national anthem. Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar visited various areas of the special education center and appreciated the efforts of the principal of the center, Nadeem Ibrahim. Later, Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar also planted a plant in the center park.
