Deadline for applications Monday 2 March
The United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child Day of General Discussion is an opportunity for children, youth and policy makers to come together for a day and talk about a specific issue related to children’s rights. This year it will take place on 18th September in Geneva, and the theme will be Children in Alternative Care.
To help plan the Day, the UN is looking for children and young people who have experienced alternative care to join the Children’s Advisory Team (17 years and under) and Young Person’s Advisory Team (18-25 years). Children and young people with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.
Please note that all applicants will need to have a supporting organisation in order to join either advisory team, and a contact person from the supporting organisation must be indicated on the application form. For a full list of the responsibilities of a supporting organisation, please check the Terms of Reference. Please share this call widely with your own networks of children and young people, and with any other organisations you are aware of who work closely with children and young people who may have had experience of living in care, of the child protection system or of successful interventions to prevent family separation.
