DEPD don’t provide higher education but it encourages students with disabilities they may obtain higher education. In this regard DEPD also facilitates Universities.

According to Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018, DEPD has requested various government departments to ensure 5% job quota in Sindh. DEPD is also reaching to private sector for implementation of 5% job quota.

Visit DEPD Website and click on services tab you will find focal points for registration and application form for registration. Then contact with your nearest focal point office and submit application with important documents.

After obtaining disability registration certificate you should contact with nearest NADRA office and apply for SCNIC free. Keep visiting DEPD Website and check announcement of one window operation in your area.

The certificate is an essential requirement for persons with disabilities in order to get a special CNIC, which they need to access benefits such as concession on public transport, employment opportunities on quota and others.

If your documentation is complete it will take one day (the day disability assessment board held)

The benefits you can obtain of Special CNIC of PWDs

  1. 50 % concession in Air and Rail Fare
  2. Provision of Insurance cover to persons with disabilities without guardians or source of income
  3. Entitlement for micro-credit finance to handicapped persons for any trade
  4. Duty free import for vehicles for handicapped persons
  5. Immediate amendments in building control regulations to ensure easy /special access to handicapped
  6. Provision for wheelchair access on streets for handicapped.
  7. Provision of special parking space for vehicles in use of handicapped in all future buildings
  8. Free medical treatment for himself/ herself, children and parents in all government hospitals

At this stage DEPD don’t provide disability card, but very soon DEPD will introduce disability card as persons with disabilities enjoy more benefits in Sindh

Yes, a person with disability can work with DEPD as expert in his/her field. You need to come up with innovative project, if it will be feasible DEPD will encourage.

Of course yes, as now in Sindh you have protection through law and there is punishment against disability discrimination. Special Courts for Persons with Disabilities and District grievances redressal committees have been notified. If you have any disability related discrimination contact with Deputy Commissioner/Chairperson of grievance redressal committee, our focal point officer or District and Session Judge of your district.

There is 5% job quota in Public or Private Establishment in Sindh
